The COST Action IS1105, MARSAFENET – NETwork of experts on the legal aspects of MARitime SAFEty and security, invites applications for Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs).

The application period will be continuously opened until July 1, 2015. All applications must be submitted by email to the STSMs Coordinator, Dr. Valentina Rossi (valentina.rossi@cnr.it). Applicants will be informed about the Assessment Panel decision within five working days following receipt of the submission.

MARSAFENET COST Action

MARSAFENET Action aims to bring together experts in international law of the sea in order to increase the knowledge on maritime security and safety and to develop a common conceptual and methodological framework with the goal of contributing to fill the legal gaps and of transforming scientific results into feasible solutions. Short-Term ScientificMissions

STSMs are an instrument to promote scientific collaboration and exchanges between the Countries participating to the MARSAFENET Action. The aim of these missions (exchange visits) shall be to contribute to the scientific objectives of the Action.

Goals of STSMs

STSMs contributing to the goals of MARSAFENET Action are encouraged, paying particular attention to the four thematic issue of the Action:

  • Shipping and Marine Environmental Protection
  • New developments of economic activities at sea
  • International maritime security and border surveillance
  • Protection of fragile and semi-enclosed seas

Available Funding

Approved STSMs will be financed in accordance with the COST rules on duration of the missions and financial support. The total budget for this call is EUR 6000.
