The international conference ‘Maritime Security and Offshore Activities: Legal Aspects‘ on 12 June 2015 (09:00-15:00 h) in Bremen takes place in the context of the ‘Bremen Meeting‘ of the Network of Experts on the Legal Aspects of Maritime Safety and Security (Marsafenet) and is part of the research project ‘Offshore Wind Energy – Protection and Security‘ (OWiSS). The Conference is organized by the Institute for the Law of the Sea and International Marine Environmental Law (ISRIM), Bremen in co-operation with Marsafenet and the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI), Malta.
Legal experts from the United Nations, i.e. the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), the World Maritime University (WMU), the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) as well as from several universities will speak about different approaches to maritime security regarding offshore activities. The primary focus is on security aspects of offshore wind energy and lessons to learn from other offshore activities.
